Hm... about creating additional files, I don't really understand: That profile would fetch the 5 newest items directly from your news database (newsdat.txt), and so it wouldn't matter where your other profiles store their outputs. This profile would give you one single text file with the 5 latest news items, regardless of category.

As for design, you can easily tailor design to suit your category. Couple of clues:

If you have image files named after your categories (news.jpg, sports,jpg etc.), you can easily insert an image corresponding to the category by using <img src="<Field: Category>.jpg"> somewhere in your style (NB about case sensitivity)

For more advanced use, you can even create CSS classes using your category names:

.sports_maintext { blah blah }
.news_maintext { slightly different blah }

And then put <span class="<Field: Category>_maintext">TEXT</span>

If you're a little familiar with CSS.

Hope this gave you some pointers. There are many other ways to do it too, but my main point is that making category-specific styling to be used in the same profile isn't difficult at all.

Gilbert wrote:Small issue. Really more to do with Maginot.

To explain

When deleting a news item as Maginot does not delete the file from the server New Files keep displaying the link.

I am using New Files to display the latest 5 news title irrespective of their profile/catgory
Yes, not being able to delete files through Maginot is a known issue (or more of a conscious choice not to implement this feature yet). Search the forum for more info on the subject...

Thanks. I am already aware of this thread, I was just stressing the point ;)

SrNupsen implemented your pointers. Worked extremely well.
