This is a very big project.
When the forums were merged, it looks like all the topic numbers were shifted...meaning, many of the past solutions, if linked to another topic, are useless...
This DOES affect the archives as they stand currently.
Here's the solution, but I'll need some help:
1) I will, tomorrow, extract a list of all posts with "self-referential" links.
2) Over the weekend, I will shut down the archives to restore an old database. We will have to manually go through and check the links in each post, using the post_id in forum2.
3) I will check the posts, and see if they were all shifted by the exact same number. If so, it'll be a snap, as we can just adjust each link accordingly. I'll get back on that.
I hope someone can find a few minutes over the next week to help us iron this last big hurdle out....If you can help, post in this topic. If each of us can handle 10-20 posts, it should be no problem at all...
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
