Maginot style error

Postby VZey » Tue Nov 08, 2005 2:34 am

This is quite a strange error I need to get to the bottom of

Code: Select all
Error: Invalid Maginot Static Profile 'all_episode_sliced' used in a MaginotURL-tag in style 'review_tvshow_box'. Make sure the profile name is correct and that the profile is enabled

The profile does exist and it is enabled.

The style in question is

Code: Select all
<table width="140" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#000000" class="t_border_lrtb">
                <tr>
                  <td><div align="center"><a href="<MaginotURL: all_episode_sliced>"><img src="<FilePath: CustomField_img_review_tvshow>" width="140" height="90" border="0"></a></div></td>
                </tr>
                <tr>
                  <td><div align="center"><CharSnip Field: CustomField_tvshow><br><a href="<MaginotURL: all_episode_sliced>"><Field: CustomField_episode></a></div></td>
                </tr>
</table>

And the profile is called all_episode_sliced and it is enabled!
I tried a different maginot profile name in there and that doesn't cause any issues...

Try to copy and paste the profile name into the style, see if that solves your problem.

thanks for your help, but i figured out what i did wrong.

I was meant to use FileURL not MaginotURL because this is a sliced profile not a static one. silly me.

Maginot Static adds the following two fields: <MaginotFile: static-profile-name> and <MaginotURL: static-profile-name>. Please see the Maginot Addon's documentation for other useful fields.

Multipart fields:
<FilePath: [UPLOAD_FIELD]> Replace '[UPLOAD_FIELD]' with the name of the File Upload field you want to print the http path to. Example: <img src="<FilePath: CustomField_My_Upload_Image_Field>">
<FileSize: [UPLOAD_FIELD]> Replace '[UPLOAD_FIELD]' with the name of the File Upload field you want to print the size in Kb for. Example: <img src="<FileSize: CustomField_My_Upload_Image_Field>">
<ThumbPath: [UPLOAD_FIELD]> Replace '[UPLOAD_FIELD]' with the name of the File Upload fields thumbnail directory you want to print the http path to. Example: <img src="<ThumbPath: CustomField_My_Upload_Image_Field>">

There is no FileURL tag.

Code: Select all
The following fields apply to all Maginot Line profiles:

ProfileName : the name of the current profile
FileNamePrefix : the filename without the extension
FileNameSuffix : the extension currently being used
FileName : the full filename
FilePath : the directory path in which the current profile's files are stored
FileURL : the full file URL
DirURL : the URL of the directory in which this profile's files are stored
BaseURL : the base URL of the profile

:oops: Whoops.

It looks like it's somewhat working. Have you specified the path in the profile settings page?

You mix things up. The MaginotURL is a *tag* but the FileURL is a *field*. And how do you use a field? Yes, that is correct: <Field: FileURL>

I mus be missing something cause it still won't work for me.

I've tried

<Field: FileURL>

and

<Field: FileURL: all_album_sliced>

But no luck. I'm putting in the style that makes the 'headlines' that link to the sliced pages.

<Field: FileURL>

is now kind of working but it points to the wrong file...and it's not just pointing to the latest content either, but it seems to be random. One is pointing to a php file and another one points to a text file. not sure what's going on there.

however neither are correct, an episode review of the apprentice is pointing to a good morning australia news item and a charmed review is pointing to a fiona apple artist summary. um yeah im lost

i should point out I'm using this in a standard profile, not some slice index profile. what does a sliced index profile do? it doesn't make sense to me

I find it kind of amusing that you in one sentance claim that things don't work and in the next you basically say you don't know what you are doing... ;-)

The FileURL field is not ment to be used in a style used by a normal profile, only in Maginot Profiles. Instead of using a normal style/profile to create the "headlines" linking to the sliced profile, use a Sliced Index Profile and include something like the below in your style:
Code: Select all
<A HREF="<Field: LinkURL>"><Field: SliceValue></A>

I think you will find that this is the solution to what you want to do?

that doesn't work it just creates a list for everything in that sliced profile.. I want to be able to filter it to the latest only. So it's like headline instead of an index of everything in there...

Using that definition for a headline vs. index is not intuitive and you can´t expect me to know this was what you ment... The more exact info you provide about what you want to do the easier it is for people to help you.

Use this then, change 5 to the amount of links you want.
Code: Select all
<PerlCode>
if($TotalPageCounter < 5) {
<PerlCode>
<A HREF="<Field: LinkURL>"><Field: SliceValue></A>
</If>

Thanks again for your help so far, I should have explained myself better. I have more trouble now, from this style

Code: Select all
<PerlCode>
if($TotalPageCounter < 2) {
</PerlCode>
<table width="140" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#000000" class="t_border_lrtb">
                <tr>
                  <td><div align="center"><a href="<Field: LinkURL>"><img src="<FilePath: CustomField_img_review_tvshow>" width="140" height="90" border="0"></a></div></td>
                </tr>
                <tr>
                  <td><div align="center"><CharSnip Field: CustomField_tvshow><br><a href="<Field: LinkURL>"><CharSnip Field: CustomField_episode></a></div></td>
                </tr>
</table>
</If>

I am trying to get the fields TV and Episode and the image to display (this is being used in the sliced index profile style) however it doesn't seem to recognise these fields. The field you gave me to use, Slice Value works but the result comes out with no capitals and no spaces, and I also need both values not just the one the sliced on. Is there a way around this?
